Applications are currently being accepted for qualified candidates to serve on the OC Senior Citizens Advisory Council (SCAC) and the First 5 Orange County Children and Families Commission.
The SCAC consists of forty volunteer citizens, including local elected officials, representatives of health care and supportive service provider organizations, persons with leadership experience, and the general public. The Council advises the Board of Supervisors and the Office on Aging on matters affecting this population. There are three standing committees (Legislation, Health/ Nutrition and Housing/Transportation) that meet monthly as well as a ten-member Executive Board. If you would like to apply for the two open seats on the SCAC, please fill out the application here. For any questions, please contact Elaine Gennawey via email at egennawey@cityoflagunaniguel.org or by phone at 949-636-3841.
The First 5 Orange County Children and Families Commission consists of a nine-member board. Commissioners are drawn from the ranks of public- and private-sector leaders in the areas of pediatric health and education. First 5 Orange County allocates funds to programs that promote health and early education for children in our community. Commissioners will support the First 5 Orange County's Strategic Plan and support the First 5 Orange County's goals of connecting and enhancing the systems of care to improve outcomes for young children and their families. In the role, Commissioners will serve a two-year term, meet six times per year, serve on ad-hoc committees, and represent First 5 Orange County at community events. The recruitment is open to new applicants and current members. If you would like to apply for one of the three open seats on the Commission (two seats in the health category and one seat in the education category), please fill out the application here.
Sincerely,
Doug Chaffee Supervisor, Orange County Board of Supervisors
